Our first day’s hike took us down into the valley, upstream along the river and finally to some waterfalls, we then headed up to return on higher ground.
The day was hot and dry. I wrapped my kikoy around me for sun protection, reminding me of all the rural Indian women I had seen completely covered by their saris. Before I thought it had to do with gender roles and while that may play a part, now I am absolutely certain they were protecting their skin too.
The day ended with pink rain and thunderstorms in the distance.
